How often do your children complain about being bored, every day, every other day? The likelihood is they have plenty to keep them entertained most of this involving screen time. Screen time is fine in moderation but excessive screen time isn’t the best for our children. Children as we all know need continuous stimulation to keep them entertained and their brains active. Mine love to do arts and crafts, play with their toys and also get lost in their own little world of imaginative play. Naturally I try to encourage anything that will mean that the children are not stuck in front of a screen for hours so when contacted by weekend box to review their weekly subscription service I thought I would give it a go as I have never had the opportunity to review a subscription box of any kind before and it sounded like fun.
The box fits nicely through the letter box and of course they have thought of everything by addressing it to the child it is for. The items included can vary from week to week with arts and crafts goodies allowing them to make something or baking goodies to get them in the kitchen with mum baking something yummy. You can also choose from mini boxes £4.95 which contain 2 activities or bumper boxes £7.50 which contain 4 activities. This product is suitable for ages 3-8 and is non toxic.
When our box arrived of course mini Miss was super excited – who wouldn’t be! Her box contained 2 different sets of face paint as these guys have teamed up with Snazaroo to include some of their products. One that had stamps with different coloured paint and the other was a set for a child to be make up as a tiger. Of course she wanted to use the stamps.
These can also be used on the hands / arms should you prefer.
Here is mini Miss showing everyone what she found when she opened the box:
Mr Squishy was extremely excited when he discovered we had face paints. He decided he wanted to be a scary tiger. This was the first time he had had his face painted so he was moving around all over the place making it hard to paint him – he’s almost 3 so we’ll forgive him. He loved being a tiger!
Mummy’s Little Tiger
When he had finished running around roaring and pretending to be a tiger it was time to remove the paint. Out came the trusty wet wipes and Mr Squishy wiped for a bit until he got bored. Although I tried to help him, he wouldn’t keep still so ended up running around looking like a minion for the rest of the day which was hilarious.
The box seemed reasonably priced as between the two packs we got 6 face paints, a sponge, 3 stamps and a small paint brush. The children enjoyed using this and have been given the package to use as they wish as it means they can enjoy imaginative play time that bit more. I think the larger pack would be a great option for those with more than one child or that need activities to keep children entertained over the week and weekend.
