Childhood can be a great time for children full of fun, adventure and magic.  I want to make the magic in my children’s lives last as long as possible so naturally when I was asked to review a Fairy Door from the Irish Fairy Door Company I was very keen.  The door arrived very quickly and my girls were like jumping beans when I opened the box and showed them what was inside. “OMG a fairy door” they exclaimed loudly, “can we do it now mummy pleeeeeeeeeaaaaassssssseeeeee??????”

Well I could hardly say no but of course I bribed them to do their homework and interestingly enough it was completed very quickly and without complaint too.  Whilst the girls were doing their homework I did mine by popping over to the companies website and taking a look around.  There are a range of Fairy Doors available with different shapes and paint colours, accessories and miniature items to leave out for your fairy, books and more.

There is so much choice and these make a great gift for children, they encourage creative / imaginative play and allow children to express themselves through the decorating of the door.  You don’t need to just use the items provided be creative and maybe add a few of your own.  Little girls and little boys love fairies as do many adults and it’s lovely to be able to keep the idea of these magical creatures alive in the minds of children.

Making your door is as simple as 1,2,3!

The set comes with a plain wooden door, colouring pens, paints, a paintbrush, accessories to add on and put in front of the door, a booklet with further information as well as set up info., a key and a lease agreement.

Once the door is ready leave it against the wall with the key and lease.  Make sure you sign the bottom of your lease and when the fairy arrives they will take the key and sign the lease.  Then you have your very own fairy living with you, how exciting is that!

You can add any of the items shown in the collage above to this and many more items can be found on the site.  This is a lovely toy for little ones and it really is nice to see how excited they get when their fairy moves in.

My girls loved designing their fairy door and would do it again given the chance.  I loved that everything needed was included except the glue that is but let’s face it all parents have glue handy for arts and crafts projects.  It’s a great idea for a children’s and after the door is made it can be used after for play.

  1. I bought a similar ‘Fairy door’ for my little man last year as a ‘tooth fairy’ door to put on his skirting board in the bedroom…but it wasn’t customisable – just a pre-made Victorian style door. These ones look lots more fun…not that the tooth fairy has made an appearance yet…hehe! x

  2. I a really impressed :)! I’ve never seen a fairy door that comes with accessories. My little girl would LOVE a fairy to move into her bedroom :).

  3. Okay I’ve seen the fairy door before. I even had my partner change the skirting boards in my daughters bedroom to better accommodate one of these.. But I’ve never seen the other products before. I Just love that Hammock!
