I was mortified to discover over half term that my little ones had caught head lice from another child in their school.  Worst of all we had run out of our Vosene Kids 3 in 1 shampoo.  Why would that matter you may ask, well here is why.  This shampoo cleanses, conditions and acts as a deterrent to head lice due to the tea tree oil and lemon eucalyptus oils it contains. If we had been using it regularly this traumatic experience could have easily been prevented.  Luckily Vosene Kids had come to the rescue with a package of goodies amongst which was the shampoo that we really needed.

Take a look at this video to see the goodies they sent us:

Mummy having discovered this great product in the box added in some extra pure tea tree essential oil for good measure.  It did the trick as I found that the few adult lice were well and truly dead by the time I checked as we had left this in for a little while to be on the safe side – don’t mess with mummy is all I have to say!  The only problem was that the teeth of the head lice comb were not close enough together to remove the eggs so I had to remove them manually – an experience I am not planning on repeating any time soon although I am now an expert at this.

There was also a Conditioning Defence spray which works along side the aforementioned shampoo as well as with the other ones in the range.  We love using this and it helps make the hair so much easier to brush and gives it a beautiful shine too.

(Mr Squishy has ants in his pants and simply can’t keep still so this was the clearest picture I was able to get of my little star with the spray.)

For those wanting some advice on preventing head lice why not pop over to the Vosene Kids site and take a look.

Vosene Kids products are gentle enough to use on children’s hair and work well on adult hair too and the proof is in the using.  Both my husband and I have both used their products and love the various aromas and how they leave our hair looking and feeling.

  1. I think it’s something any Mum dreads…as much as we dread chicken pox. Actually give me chicken pox over these little blighters. yuk! I shall take note now of this shampoo thanks

  2. I was stunned to learn at the school I taught at they were no longer sending kids home when they had lice, this was a disaster as staff and others were exposed.

  3. What an experience to have to go through! I have heard that the little buggers are quite persistent and tough to get rid of, so it’s a good thing you knew to use Vosene Kids products! I’m sure that having to pick the eggs out manually was quite a time-consuming experience!

  4. I swear lice have an attraction for children’s heads. I remember in school we had lice checks every couple months. There was always someone, and they were always sent home.

  5. Oh dear .. head lice is so awful. Last year my grandson brought some home from his preschool and my daughter had a heck of a time getting rid of them. I felt so bad. She could shave my grandson’s head .. but her own was another story with her long, pretty (and thick!) hair.

  6. I just hte the parents who don’t do their kids hairs my little one school has even said they can’t directly ring a parent to say their child has them as it could be classed as bullying and discrimination absolutely ridiculous

  7. well, I am glad that there is a product out there for the prevention of lice, which apparently is a big problem. I have always homeschooled my children, and they have thankfully not ever been exposed to any of those problems, many school children face. How disgusting! Glad you found something useful!

  9. This brings back memories of my parents having to try and get rid of my headlice! My daughter isn’t at school yet, so we don’t have this issue but am anticipating it being a pain.

  10. A great idea for a giveaway for any of us parents out there. Headlice are the things of nightmares, but quite dealable with the right products. My girls are now grown up, but when they were at school, they had hair down to their behinds, and it was a dreaded thing to get the letter home informing that someone in their class had lice. Now I’ve entered the realms of first school again with my little boy, so I expect there will be a letter at some point in the near future. Just glad there are affordable products out there now that really help.

  11. Ahhh my childhood nightmare. We had a girl in my elementary school who had ALWAYS lice. My mom used petrol on my head to get rid of them that days :/ That wasn’t really healthy..

  12. We went through a stage where we just couldn’t get rid of them! We were treating like mad but obviously other parents weren’t and the school policy is not to let parents know now as it victimises the kids ffs!!

    1. OMG seriously? but that is ridiculous. They should alternatively just send out a letter saying there are nits and treat the children to cover the class. That way there is no victimisation.

  19. It is so frustrating to see that your child comes home from school with head lice! It is great that there are products available to help address the issue and in an easy to use shampoo form. I will let my cousins know about this. They have little children who may be vulnerable of getting head lice.

  20. Well I don’t really have kids yet but I will keep that in mind for when I do. It’s crazy how kids catch that at school, I think there has to be done something with mass hygiene in there!

  21. Ugh headlice are awful. Thankfully, despite being at nursery 4 days a week, my son has never caught them. The nursery rarely ever gets breakouts thank goodness. Glad to hear the Vosene works.

  23. I had heard that there was nothing you could to prevent them, but it’s good to know there are options! We had a bit of an epidemic last year, and it was a nightmare! One twin got them and as soon as she was sorted out the other suddenly picked them up, it was a nightmare!

  24. Shame about the comb but it sounds like the rest of the products were effective at getting rid of the lice. I had a badge when I was younger that helped x
