My First Scalextric

I was recently offered a My First Scalextric to give to Mr Squishy to review.  I thought he was going to pop when he first opened the box as he didn’t have a clue what was inside he just knew there was a big box for him.  I remember my brother having one of these when we were children and we would race the cars for hours it was great fun.  This is Scalextric is targeted at ages 3+ which is perfect as my little man has just turned three and he is obsessed with cars as well as many other things – aren’t they all.  The My First Scalextric is priced at £39.99 if you fancy getting one as a gift and makes a great present for both girls and boys.

This is a great introduction to the world of Scalextric racing for kids 3+, featuring an easy-to-assemble figure-of-eight track, two rally BMW cars and adjustable power hand-controllers which are colour coded in red and yellow to match chevrons on the circuit.

The super Magnatraction technology helps to keep the cars on the track just as it did when I was a child and the hand-controllers allow the speed of racing to be adjusted depending on your skill level.  Mr Squishy is a total beginner so you can imagine how much fun it was for him and the squeals of joy and amusement as the cars went flying off the track.

The My First Scalextric set is fully compatible with the rest of the Micro Scalextric range of sets and cars so you can extend your track and add new cars adding to the fun – the possibilities are endless!

Whats In The Box?

2 super strong cars

2 remote controllers

What Did Mr Squishy Think?

The look on his face was priceless when he first saw the box and also when he saw it set up for the first time.  He wouldn’t stop babbling about it and grinning from ear to ear.  This is one of those toys he is guaranteed to play with as often as he can get us to take it out – it would probably be easiest to leave it out permanently.  Needless to say he loved it!!!  It’s such a great toy for children it would be hard not to.

See For Yourself!

What Did Mummy Think?

I have to say this is really good fun and the girls and my husband all agreed.  We all took it in turns to have a go and race each other.

I loved that the box was just the right size to fit everything and not excessively large so it easily fits nicely into a cupboard or under a bed.

It was also great that this was easy to put together.

It’s a lovely fun way to help children improve their motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

The controller can be adjusted easily with a screwdriver to prevent children pressing the trigger down too far and going too fast.  At Squishy’s age the main thing for him is to see the cars going around, crashing or flying off the track once in a while.  I haven’t adjusted the controller yet as little man already seems to be getting the hang of being gentler with pressing the triggers on the controllers which is great and the cars don’t fly off the track anywhere near as much as they did on his first few goes.  Mr Smarty pants can race both cars at the same time now!

This is perfect as a beginner scalextric and the fact you can add to it makes it so much better.

There aren’t numerous buttons to press which is great, simply press the trigger to get the cars moving.  The speed of the cars can be adjusted by the amount of pressure used on the trigger.

Batteries are not required, phew!!!!  This is great when you give the My First Scalextric as a gift as it can be opened and used straight away.  You simply put it together, plug it in and go go go!
