Those that have children, nieces, grandchildren around the ages of 6 to 14 will have heard of the fantastic Gel-A-Peel.  For those that haven’t heard of it Gel-A-Peel are coloured gels that come in a variety of different packs with templates to help create jewellery and accessories of varying forms.  The gels are great to allow children to get those creative juices flowing and have fun at the same time.

I have featured Gel-A-Peel in the past and must say the children are very possessive over their gels and do like to use them whenever they get a chance.  Gel-A-Peel sets make fantastic gifts and numerous pack sizes are available to suit varying budgets.

I was contacted and asked if I would love to get arty with the children and join in the design a diary challenge with Gel-A-Peel by letting the children loose to create a diary for them to use this year.  Naturally I asked the children what they thought and they were super excited and then one turned to me questioningly and asked “we will get more gels though, we don’t have to use up ours?”.  Smart child!!!  I of course I made sure they were aware they’d get a shiny new pack with more gels to use and naturally they were up for the challenge.  Keeping a diary is a great way to encourage children to write and express themselves so this project is one that I was keen to take part in as it will help encourage different types of creativity.

The Challenge Items Provided

2 Plain Diaries

Gel-A-Peel 2 Tone Kit suitable for ages 8+

How Did We Do?

Really well.  The packs are designed to have everything you could possibly need to get creative.

The girls now have the hang of using the tubes so got stuck in quickly and had a great time decorating their diary as you can see.  They made some gems to stick onto their diary which we allowed to dry over night.

And the finished product:

Of course when asked if they wanted to do another they excited replied, yes please.

It’s not just diaries that you can decorate.  You could decorate a picture frame, hair slides, a hairbrush and much much more. It’s up to you really, you just need to think outside of the box.

I know these kits are super popular amongst my girls friends so we thought it might be nice to host a giveaway for one of you to win a two tone kit and a diary of your own to decorate.  You can either have a go yourself or give it to your little ones to keep them busy for an afternoon so you can enjoy a blissful hour or so of silence.
