British Sandwich Week 2018 this year starts on the 20th of May and continues until the 26th of May.  We are a Nation of sandwich eaters and my favourite way to eat sandwiches has to be with an afternoon tea.  What can I say I like dainty little sandwiches washed down with either tea, coffee, a cocktail of a glass of bubbles and followed by a tantalising selection of pastries.

For National Sandwich Week this year the kids have collaborated with Num Noms to bring you some great Num Nom inspired sandwiches.

There are 120 Num Noms to collect in series 4 and you can mix and match these little guys to make a whole range of scented recipes.

My girls couldn’t wait to get creative so along we went to the supermarket and filled up a basket with all sorts of edible goodies to help give us inspiration.

On with the chefs hat and they were ready to go.

Knives at the ready.

The girls started by shaping their bread.

They then added toppings.

We opted for open sandwiches as these are all the craze at the moment.

Once happy with their creations the girls posed for a picture.

Sandwich one displays a great use of spicy cocktail sausages topping a multi seeded bread, accompanied by a small helping of pepperoni, a teeny piece of carrot and a few small pieces of strawberry.

Sandwich two again makes good use of a multi seeded bread and is given a healthy coating of cream cheese to give a good calcium boost.  Topped with a thin round of mozzarella and then a slice of salami both of which add a great flavour making this a little like an uncooked pizza.  The strawberry pieces add an unusual yet interesting twist.

It wasn’t long before the girls both eager to taste their sandwiches decided to take a bite.

Yum Yum!

The girls enjoyed playing with their food.  It’s a great way for children to get creative with flavours and also helps to encourage them to try new things too.  It was lovely to see them enjoying making their own food and hilarious that they were stuffing their faces whilst making it.  I had purposely bought a few new salamis / hams to try which went down very well.  They ate far more then ended up on their sandwiches.

The girls were really excited that the guys at Num Noms have said we can give away one of the Series 4 lunchboxes.

  1. My daughter has only just discovered nom noms when she found our local supermarket didn’t have any SHopkins left but she really liked them and there a great size

  2. Num Noms haven’t actually hit here yet (somehow!) so we have none, but I know they’d go down a storm.

I love your girls creations, they look fab!

  3. Well I am not sure how many Ellie has got, my grand-daughter, but she did take home a rather large biscuit tin to put them in 🙂

  4. I’ve not tried them, but I’ll be looking out for them when I do my shopping now I’ve read this post. Thanks. xx

  5. So many that they sometimes take over the whole of the living room floor – and we keep finding them down the back of the sofa too!

  6. I have no idea how many they have, I know there appear everywhere around the house and the kids will randomly turn up smeared in lip gloss or wearing nail polish!

  7. My daughter doesn’t have any at the moment, but she has seen them and would really like to own some.

  8. My daughter has one of the multipacks that you can buy, I’m not sure exactly how many that is, maybe 10 or 12

  9. I don’t have any children but would love to win this prize to donate to charity, to go to Romania.

  10. She hasn’t got any yet but after seeing this I’m sure it will be the next thing she is into.

  11. My daughter absolutely loves Num Noms especially the different fragrances. I can’t recall how many she has but definitely a few already and would love to add to her collection!

  12. Oh my goodness my Heidi has a bag FULL of Num noms and there are also lots hidden all round her bedroom.
    She is obsessed.
    We love smelling them.

  13. My niece has more than 10 but not sure if the exact number, they are all from blind bags and she has no duplicates!

  15. My daughter has only got 8 as she has only just started collecting them in the last two months and buying them out of her own pocket money

  16. I have to admit that my granddaughter does not own any yet, so this would be her first ones if we won!

  20. My Grandson says he would love to start collecting these and as his birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. I will get him some to start his collection

  21. My 8 year old Hallie-Anne has them scattered everywhere…I would bin them when I came across them if the lipgloss didn’t smell so good 😂

  22. My little girl loves num noms she’s recieved quite a few for birthdays & christmas over the years so I’d say she’s probably got about 30.

  24. Daisy has about 20 but Leo has only just started to take notice of them and of course he now wants Daisy’s!
