Pairfum Reed Diffuser – Innocent Vanilla

Do you ever think about what goes into your home fragrances, perfumes, beauty products etc.?  Many of us are now looking more at natural products as we learn about the benefits of these and the detrimental effects synthetic products and some natural products can have.  This brings me on to a recent discovery of mine a company called Pairfum London.  These guys are specialists for perfume lovers.  On their site I discovered some gorgeous products including organic skincare, something that I am sure will be of interest to many of you, perfume, room sprays and perfumed botanicals to name just a few.

We are in the process of Spring cleaning.  I have been trying to collect clothes that no longer fit, toys that we no longer use and donating them to charity shops to help others.  By doing this I am hoping to make the house look more inviting and less like a 2.5 year old tornado has just hit (commonly referred to as Mr Squishy.)  In my efforts I am not just looking for a minimalist look I want to create a living area that is inviting, relaxing and beautifully fragranced.  In order to achieve this I knew exactly what to do having seen diffusers on the Pairfum London site.

Diffusers make a lovely gift and when correctly positioned in a home these can create a stunning centre piece to a table or focal point in a room.

Diffusers are NOT all the same and you can include air fresheners in there too.  There are many different scents to state the obvious, they are presented / packaged differently from bottle style to colour but also importantly they have different qualities due to the ingredients.  Not everyone gets on well with diffusers / air fresheners.  The oils / ingredients whether natural or synthetic can irritate those with asthma.  This is due to the VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) which are found in natural essential oils as well as air fresheners and diffusers in general.

What are Volatile Organic Compounds?

These are organic compounds that can change to gas or vapour form.  This means that at room temperature they can evaporate easily and quickly.  They can occur naturally and can also be man made.  Some VOCs can cause adverse health effects in humans and others can cause damage to the environment.  Not all VOCs are harmful some can help promote health and well being.  You can’t avoid VOCs as anything that has a scent contains them whether it is natural or synthetic.  Many man made VOCs are found in cleaning products, cosmetics, toiletries, paints, carpets, paint, wood, you get the picture they are everywhere.

In this country we spend a fortune on scented candles, air fresheners etc. but evidence is now showing that these can actually be quite detrimental to health.  The rise in sales of these products over that past number of years has also coincided with an increase of respiratory problems.  Formaldehyde for example which is found in products such as disinfectants, building materials, glue and also air fresheners has be linked to certain types of cancer after prolonged exposure, food for thought for when you next reach for that spray or plug in air freshener.  Air fresheners have been shown to trigger and exacerbate allergies and worsen asthma.

The USA has become very strict in regulating VOCs since California’s Proposition 65 (or prop 65) was introduced.  The UK and Europe on the other hand have no restrictions in regards to VOCs in home fragrances even though the research is there to demonstrate that they can cause many health issues, something we in the UK should be concerned about as the treatment of these increases the strain on the failing NHS that bit further.

For those that want to experience great quality diffusers and have in the past found conditions such as asthma are aggravated by them and also of course for those that are health conscious and want to enjoy having a beautifully scented home without the negative effects to their health then Pairfum London is the company you need.  Not only do they pride themselves in producing fragrances that we will fall in love with they also use their scientific understanding to create more unique products than other brands and also aromas that will last.  Their reed diffusers which look stunning use a highly fragrant and natural non-VOC oil serum (non-toxic).  Now that you are all experts in VOCs having read my above explanation you will understand that this is much healthier for you and your family.  The scent of the diffuser lasts longer than the typical reed diffusers, you get between 6 and 9 months of fragrance.  The large diffuser provides enough fragrance to fill a room and each time you walk into the room you can smell the aroma as it fills the air.

My new Innocent Vanilla bell diffuser now graces our mantle piece and I must say looks stunning and makes the room smell really lovely.

What do you think?

This has had a few compliments already as it looks fantastic and it’s the first thing that catches the eye as you come into the living room.  I love the bell diffuser on it’s own as it looks so pretty and I think that the addition of the Ivy, large dish and pine cones really make this the main focal point in the room.

I love this diffuser and look forward to buying some of the other aromas that I discovered on the site when this one finishes as well as some of the other products I just need to decide what to try next, decisions decisions!

Do you use diffusers or air fresheners in your home?  If so were you are of the health implications?

Bunny Jump from University Games

With memories of Easter still in our minds and having recovered from any chocolate comas brought on by the copious amounts of these creamy sweet confections that we had consumed our thoughts slowly jumped back and forth reminding us of the fun filled weeks we had enjoyed.  With the Easter holidays now officially over and the normality of life setting in yet again were were pleased to bring with us something that all the family have had a chance to enjoy over the holiday period.  Okay, we might need to rephrase that slightly to include all except daddy as he has difficulty releasing his inner child where as mummy has the opposite problem of struggling to contain hers.  This bringer of fun and laughter takes the form of a game called Bunny Jump from University Games.  This was a recent addition to our toys collection (note how I said our!).

Bunny Jump is a fast paced game of luck that also tests reaction speed, patience and self control of those that are maybe not so great at losing (the least said about that the better).  We played this game for hours and hours and hours and have a fantastic time tugging at carrots and catching the cheeky bunny that jumped at us from its burrow when we least expected it to protect its carrots.  Watch out those as this little chap is pretty fast rather like our bunnies who felt that they should also make an appearance in the post.

This is such a simple game yet really great fun and it didn’t take long for the children to get into the swing of playing this.  They also became pretty good at catching that bunny when it decided to jump.  Mr Squishy also thought this was a great game and his giggles of laughter as well as the girls could be heard throughout the house.  Naturally I was in on the action too except for when I was taking pictures and a video for you guys so you can see how easy it is too play and how much fun it is!  After take 20 something we had a video that was acceptable to post – don’t ask how many days that took just be warned videoing kids isn’t an easy task!

We wanted to show everyone how much fun this simple game can be.  Here the girls will show tell you how to play and actually play the game too:

This was a winner with my family and something we play with almost every day!  The game is suitable for ages 4+ years and is for 2 to 4 players.  The SRP is £19.99 and this game can be found at Toys R Us, Argos, Tesco and Amazon.  I found this for £14.99 at John Lewis, Tesco Direct and Argos so I’d go with one of those to save a few pounds!

In an effort to share the fun as this really is a brilliant game I have one of these super toys to give away to one lucky reader.

The Therapeutic Effects of Teddies

Teddies make a wonderful gift for children whether you are buying for them for a birthday, Christmas or an alternative to sweets and chocolate for Easter.

We all love teddies whether we are young or old but eventually we grow out of them or at least we claim too and cuddle our teddies at night when no one can see.

It’s interesting that scientist have actually researched the therapeutic effects of soft toys.  We all know that they are great for children but they are also good for adults too.

They act as a comforter for both young and old and make a wonderful confidant for children as they will never tell anyone their owners secrets.  Adults can feel free to confide in them too although I must admit I’d feel a bit daft talking to a teddy myself but apparently it can actually help.

Teddies are great to hug and interestingly this can reduce stress.  Hugging reduces stress hormones and can also alleviating conditions such as anxiety, depression and insomnia.

Soft toys are also great for older children and adults by serving as a reminder of childhood and also of the person who bought it.

The appearance, colour of the teddy is irrelevant in terms of their healing benefits it’s all about the attachment formed by the individual to the toy.

Warmies a recent discovery of mine have added an additional benefit to their teddies – heat!

This makes them that bit more cuddly and welcoming.  They also help children / adults feel better when they have tummy aches, cramps caused by wind, menstrual cramps (stating the obvious – in adult females), muscular pains and more.  The application of the warm toy to the area increases the blood flow to that area which can reduce any swelling, relax muscles, reduce / relieve pain, discomfort, stiffness and much more.

Of course in cases where there is a condition aggravated by heat you are best to just use the teddy as a toy.

Warmies have a fabulously large range of these heatable teddies.  Their regular sized toys are just £14.95 which is reasonable for a cute, cuddly toy that can be microwaved.  They are super simple to use you literally pop the whole teddy into the microwave and heat for the time specified on the label attached to the toy, a well thought out toy clearly as the instructions are on the toys and there is no opening of the toys and parts to remove for heating which is a bonus.

My little ones love teddies and we have a mix of cuddly animals, probably enough to open a teddy zoo but their new warmies really did get them very excited.  See what they thought of the teddies here:

Naturally when we got ours that evening they mysteriously developed tummy aches and needed their teddy heated to cuddle in bed.  The teddies themselves are exceptionally soft, cute and very cuddly.  They are easy to use and clean – cleaning involves a quick wipe with a wet wipe or damp sponge.  They smell of French lavender and many of you will be aware that this is a relaxant, has calming properties and can even help gently induce and result in a deeper sleep.  These toys are long lasting so can see your children / you through many years as they can be reheated thousands of times.

Even Mr Squishy wanted one to cuddle as well as mummy to fall asleep (before being transferred into his cot.)

There are so many different teddies to choose from on the Warmies website you are simply spoilt for choice.  They have something for everyone.  I picked out a few that I thought you guys might like too.  These ones are all regular sized but they also have medium which are smaller and will be introducing minis soon too.  There are other heatable soft toys too so make sure you take a look at their website to see the full selection.

(dragon available soon)

Those young at heart or simply young will probably want to get their hands on one of these too so I have teamed up with The Intelex group the company that brought us Warmies and we will be holding a competition for one reader to win a regular soft plush teddy, winners choice (provided there is stock otherwise you might be asked to chose another option).

Entry is super easy just enter via the rafflecopter form.

Michael Kors Spring Birthday Party Outfit Wishlist 2017

Guess whose having a birthday soon! Probably all of you will know someone who will be celebrating theirs but I was actually talking about me.  Of course having a birthday is a great excuse to go shopping online for a fabulous new outfit and with Love the Sales having a sale on Michael Kors items I simply couldn’t resist taking a look.  Michael Kors always has gorgeous sophisticated clothing, drool worthy bags, beautiful shoes and and more!!!!!!!  Of course the best time to get these items is in the sale as you can get away with squeezing in some extra items with the savings you make – I do love the logical way my mind works.

Dresses are a must i’m not so much of a trouser or skirt girl when going out and the style will vary depending on the location of the party.

The Michael Long Length Evening Dress is a great dress for meals out at nice restaurants.  Black will never go out of fashion and you wouldn’t feel out of place in this dress that’s for sure with its sophisticated and elegant style.  This was £211 and is now £148.

Blue dresses seem to be catching my attention at the moment and this stunner really is a fun, pretty dress for a range of activities from a meal out to drinks at a trendy bar.  The High Woods V Neck Dress is a great length for showing off those toned pins (might want to use some tanning cream first though).  The leopard print looks lovely against this pretty shade of blue and the dress flows well as you walk thanks to the chiffon.  This dress is fully lined and the v top flatters the bust.  This is going to be a popular dress I know and it was selling for £165 but is now only £59 so it really is a great bargain.

Back to black but this time something a little shorter than the first.  This beautiful lace dress is an all rounder in terms of events it really is a dress for all occasions and flatters the female form perfectly.  I love the lace sleeves which add to its sophisticated charm.  It was originally £258 but is now available for £155 and worth every penny due to its versatility.  You can dress it up to give a different look with different types of jewellery, bags, shoes etc.

Again blue but a slightly different shade.  This Ottoman dress is for the body confident and really does look wonderful.  With the perfect accessories you can look like you’ve just stepped off the catwalk.  This is a great colour for the warmer weather but if you are naturally pale like me don’t forget the tanning cream on those arms and legs to make it stand out that bit more.  You make a massive saving as this was £215 and is now £79.

Of course whatever you pick you need to make sure you have the right shoes.  I do read your comments and take into consideration your preferences too on my various posts and with these in mind have selected some great shoes that will not only go with each of these dresses they will also look simply gorgeous and have varied heel sizes.  I must admit I took forever trying to choose the shoes on the site as there are so many wonderful styles, they really did make it hard to whittle them down.  I had so many pages open for options that I thought I might crash my computer!!!!!

Whether you want a shoe the same colour as your outfit or one that will standout I have it all covered.  I’m super excited to share these beauties.

They are stunning aren’t they!

The selection above will not only look lovely with my chosen dresses they will go with so many more and getting a few and mixing and matching works well as you can create a different look each time.  The mix of kitten heels and higher heels should suit many tastes and for for that prefer flats I selected these.

They look super comfy and are perfect for anyone that doesn’t wear heels whether it is for medical reasons or because they haven’t mastered walking in them.

Now a great outfit of course needs completing and what other than a stylish handbag to finish the perfect ensemble.  Prefer a large or small bag?  You are spoilt for choice either way.

I thought these two styles would look great with the various outfits what do you think?  You can of course chose one that is more colourful or just go for a purse but the where will you put your phone, keys, makeup bag etc.

We could go on, watches, necklaces, earrings and bracelets will add that bit of sparkle and shine.

These all make wonderful gifts too if you know the style preference and size where applicable of the person you are buying for.

Are you going to buy any Michael Kors items in the sale?

Edible Sweet Gifts for Under £10 (2017)

We don’t all have endless amounts of space so sometimes when buying gifts I think it is a good idea to consider buying gifts that are edible rather than ones we hope the recipient will use for years to come.  I know I have limited space and although I appreciate another great quality pan for example I have literally no storage space left.  Well meaning friends and family always buy me items for the kitchen which is lovely but for me no longer practical as I have nowhere to put them and they just get piled up onto of others that have yet to be used.  Sometimes gifts that are edible can be a welcome change and may be used as a gift or part of a selection of gifts depending on how much you want to spend.  There are so many different sweet treats to choose from and today I wanted to focus on items that you can find for £10 or less.  If you are dieting look away now!

Prosecco Sweets

These have become increasingly popular and I for one would love to try them in some shape or form.  John Lewis has two different types bonbons (200g) £5.00 and gummies (250g) £6.50.  These adult treats are not actually alcoholic and are sure to go down well with Prosecco lovers.

Marshmallows

With the rise of gourmet marshmallows there has never been so much choice available.  From basic vanilla to champagne and strawberry flavour we are more than spoilt for choice.  Yumbles have a range of foodie items including lemon meringue pie marshmallows (pack of 10) £4.75 and coconut marshmallows (130g) £6.00.  These make a great addition to any gift and would be welcomed by all marshmallow lovers.

 Chocolate Covered Nuts

I know so many people that love chocolate covered nuts and these make a great gift or additional gift.  Hotel Chocolat do some gorgeous dark chocolate Brazil nuts (230g) that come in a reusable tin for £10.  What something for a little less they have a range of tie bag options like their dark salted caramel almonds (130g) for £5.50 or £5 if you buy two or more.

Chocolate

Chocolate is always a winner unless although you come across the odd person that doesn’t eat it.  I know how unusual but apparently there are a few out there.  Us chocolate lovers do outnumber them greatly and a selection such as the Guylian praline seashells (250g) available at Tesco for £3 or the 375g box for £5 also from Tesco generally goes down very well.  These are my sisters favourite chocolates and she always gets some for birthdays and Christmas.

Biscuits

Now when I mention biscuits as a gift I don’t just mean any old thing.  For it to be suitable as a gift you need to take into consideration the quality of the biscuit, flavour and also packaging!  Here is were Harrods seems to have excelled.  These stunning biscuit boxes (contain 300g of biscuits) are perfect as gifts, on the left the daffodil tin contains chocolate chunk hazelnut biscuits and on the right the rose tin contains delicately spiced stem ginger biscuits.  These are suitable for vegetarians.  The tins cost £10 each and of course the box is great for storing bits and bobs from makeup to piping nozzles.

So as you can see you can find a wide variety of items that make lovely gifts and cost less than £10.  There are so many more items to choose from but of course it all depends on the taste of the recipient where your search will be guided.  For those like me that love their chocolate I have one last thing to mention.  A super little competition thanks to the generous guys at Guylian who agreed with me that we should share the love and the chocolate so here we go.  If you fancy trying your luck have a quick read below to find out how to enter.

Mini Dinosaur Backpack with Safety Harness Reins

It’s fun getting out and about but not always so easy when you have 3 children to keep an eye on.  I am one of those mums that is a little over protective of her young.  I tend to like to hold their hands when we walk down the road although I know many others that are that bit more relaxed with their children allowing them to run along ahead and in some cases not being as watchful as you might expect.  Maybe I’m over doing it or maybe I’m not but with the world nowadays I appreciate children need to be street savvy but also am aware that people are busier and in many cases more careless when they drive.  I’ve seen cars swerve onto the road near children and noticed some drivers not paying attention as they drive, reverse etc.  I have always use reigns on my little ones, I appreciate some parents like them and others are not such big fans but I think they are great to allow little ones to have that bit more freedom (and exercise) than having to sit in a pushchair or hold mummy’s hand all the time.  Of course holding 3 hands doesn’t quite add up and so when I have all 3 with me I have mastered a way of making sure all are safe having mini man in the pushchair and the girls holding on to either side.  Mr Squishy has now thrown a spanner in the works though and has been insisting on walking a lot more which is fine but not quite so easy with the length of my reigns.  I had seen a few mums out and about with backpacks that had reigns on them and thought this to be a wonderful idea so when Babymel got in touch and asked if I wanted to review a backpack with reigns it was clearly meant to be!

Many of you will have heard of Babymel, they provide a whole range of kiddie related products from changing bags, lunch bags, bottles, backpacks and more.  We were sent a backpack for Mr Squishy to review.

The bag we were sent was the;

Mini Dinosaur Backpack with Safety Harness Reins

This is super cute and the perfect size as Mr Squishy is 2.5 and so this isn’t too large for his back.  This is suitable for ages 1 to 4 so he will get plenty of use out of it.  He loved the backpack as he finally had one of his own and didn’t need to try and steal his sisters ones anymore by grabbing them when they weren’t looking and making a run for it.  That would never turn out well for him so Mr Squishy is over the moon he now has one.  As you might imagine he was extremely eager to use it so he packed his bag with all the essentials.

The backpack is covered with cute dinosaurs and has a detachable safety harness/ reins perfect to keep me happy in the knowledge I have a good hold of my little man.  The harness is well made with a metal clip which I loved as my reigns have a plastic clip.  There is a large zipped compartment for storing all sorts of goodies from packed lunches to fun stuff.  There is an elasticated strap inside to help keep bottles secured which is handy.  Inside there is also a section where you can write the owners name inside a monster!  There is also a smaller pocket in the front of the bag perfect for tissues, hand wash and a few Wow Toys drivers.  Mr Squishy loves helping mummy by packing his bag to go out.  He is able to unzip and zip up the bag and even tries to put it on his back but still needs assistance with that but he is doing well.

Once the backpack is on he is ready to go out and can’t wait.  Sometimes he will quickly sneak in an extra toy or ten whilst mummy locks up (before the bag is on him).

This little man loves going out and about with his new backpack and loves the extra freedom it gives him.  Mummy is very pleased that it has padded straps and that they feel comfy for Squishy and also very secure so she doesn’t need to worry about the front clip or attachment to the bag opening on it’s own or breaking.  Mr Squishy has yet to discover that the cute little PVC-free, BPA-free, Phthalate-free Zip & Zoe tag attached is musical although mummy has sneakily pressed it then flipped the bag over and pretended she doesn’t know where the music is coming from lol.

My little man couldn’t be happier with this fab new backpack and loves to grab it and prepare it to encourage mummy to go out for extra walks.  It’s handy to know that when my little man is a bit older and I am somewhere I feel he will be safe I can unclip the harness and let him have a little roam around.

All purchases are covered by a 6 month warranty which is useful to be aware of and these guys have been awarded 5 stars for both their service and this product on Feefo.  This product is a recent addition to their product range but I am sure it will do well it is a great little bag for boys and girls that love dinosaurs.

Would you use a backpack with reigns for your children?

Baylis & Harding Linen Rose and Cotton Range

Recently I wrote a post about Baylis & Harding’s Limited Edition Pink Prosecco and Cassis Range.  This range was truly fantastic. I really did love the aroma and it was one that was popular with many of you too.  With that in mind I decided to make sure I featured another product that I discovered that I know you will also love this time from their Linen Rose and Cotton Range.  This range features a lovely mix of products many of which make fantastic gifts although you might decide once you have bought something from this range that you want to keep if for yourself.

The range is nice and varied to cover many tastes and budgets including diffusers, candles, different toiletry sets all of that are beautifully packaged.  I loved the look of the Linen Rose and Cotton Tin which features some lovely large bottles which anyone would be over the moon with once they smell the fabulous fragrance.  This is perfect for a pampering session and includes a 300ml Body Cleanser, 300ml Bath & Shower Crème, 125ml Bath & Shower Gel and 125ml Body Balm.  With Mother’s Day coming up this would make a great gift for mum to thank her for all her hard work this year as let’s face it mums do sooooo much and we can never really say thank you enough.  We must remember mum’s also need a little relaxation and pampering time for themselves and this is perfect for that.  The toiletries come in a pretty tin which will of course come in very useful for mum as it could be used to help store other toiletries when these all empty and would also look great in the kitchen to home jars of herbs and spices and if mum is green fingered she might even like to plant some herbs for the window sill or flowers.  A pretty heart design is displayed on the tin as well as onthe items nestled inside making this the ideal gift for one that you love.

Now you know me if I can find this on offer for you I will so you will be pleased to know that although the RRP is £30 but, mummy here has gone and found it for the bargain price of (quick sit down!!!!!!!)

£9.99 at Argos.

OMG didn’t I do a great job there.  You will find it at Asda for £15 and Tesco also has it for £15 until the 26th March.

Another of the the products featured in that range that caught my eye was their;

Linen Rose and Cotton Large Wick Candle

How pretty is that in its silver coloured glass jar.  This candle has the same great delicate fragrance as the products in the tin and will help keep a room smelling gorgeous and it also looks great as a centre piece on a table or mantelpiece or even for those like my husband that enjoy taking a bath by candlelight  (you might want to get two or three in that case).  Almost everyone loves candles, there are very few that don’t now days an this is a great one to be given as a gift.  The wax is a baby pink colour and the 180g candle has a total burn time of up to 25 hours.  This has a RRP of £15.00 and can be found at OCADO £7.50 another bargain!!!!

There are many more in this range but I also wanted to include a product from the Pink Prosecco and Cassis range for a two reasons, one that it smells so amazingly fabulous that you should all be aware of it (okay so I’m stating the obvious there) the second reason, well I’m not going to tell you just yet you will need to read on to find out!!!! – Trust me you want too.

Pink Prosecco and Cassis  Diffuser Set

Not only does this look pretty it gives off a lovely aroma to have any room smelling wonderful.  As with the other products from this range the packaging features the pretty rose gold.  The 200ml diffuser will last for up to 10 weeks.  The RRP is £15.00 but this can be found at Asda for £10.00.  Keep reading, you can win one of these below! (reason two).

What did you think of these super products from Baylis & Harding?

I have always been a fan of the various ranges that have been available and love discovering new ones.  For this reason I want to help one lucky reader discover two of the products / fragrances featured in this post.

Whose interested?

The prize is a lovely one that I would enter for too if I could but that wouldn’t be very fair.  One lucky reader will win a Linen Rose Cotton Large Wick Candle AND a Pink Prosecco and Cassis  Diffuser Set thanks to the lovely guys at Baylis & Harding.

Entry is super easy just enter via the rafflecopter form.

Project Mc2 H20 Nail Science Lab

My girls are pretty girly.  They love make up, having their nails painted, dressing up and taking their little handbags with them when they go out.  At school they have a great science teacher who has helped encourage them to develop a love for science themselves.  We were really pleased to hear that Project MC2 are supporting British Science week.(10th to the 19th of March).  The annual celebration of all things S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.

Project MC2 are passionate about encouraging more young people especially girls into these areas demonstrating that they can be fun and are not just for boys.  Their aim is to prove that being smart is cool as those that watch the popular Netflix show Project MC2 will be aware.  The Project MC2 super smart and chic heroines are back to take on more secret missions for top secret organisation NOV8 using their love of science and sky skills to help them complete their missions.  Two new seasons of the show were launched in 2016 with new products and two new characters.  This Spring will see the girls return to our screens with many new exciting S.T.E.A.M. focused products including the Project Mc2 H20 Nail Science Lab.

As seen in the Netflix original show Adrienne Attoms’ next mission is to use her cosmetic chemistry skills to formulate the perfect look for saving the world.  With the Mc2 H20 Nail Science Lab children can now perform this same cool S.T.E.A.M. experiment at home using just household ingredients.  By using a scientific process called hydrographic printing children can create amazing and unique marble designs!  It is very easy to use and can be applied directly to children’s nails or to the provided press-on nails with any combination of polishes that you own.

What is hydrographic printing?  A quick Science Lesson

This is also known as immersive printing and is in this instance when the nail varnish is added to the water and an object is placed on top – finger nails onto where the pattern from the floating nail varnish will transfer.  As the nail varnish is not as dense as the water it floats.  What is density – the number of molecules in an area, so the denser an object is ie. the more molecules the less likely it is to float.  Nail varnish has less molecules when applied in small amounts to water so this forms a thin layer on the water surface.  When we added the nail varnish in a large amount it would form a ball and sink as it is denser than the water (has more molecules).  This is why the instructions say to add one drop at a time.

Within the set you will find a multi-LED light up station with built-in nail dryer, three stands with holders for your nail polish, three discs with blank nails to design, adhesive stickers, four science pipettes, one design stick, and one clear beaker. Batteries and nail polishes are not included.  Detailed instructions are provided.

You will need 3 AA batteries.

Here is how we got on:

As you can see we had great fun doing this.  Having done this for the first time in the video we have learnt from this as mummy used quick drying nail varnish as that was what she had.  Next time we plan to use normal nail varnish and see the difference.

As you will see from the video we changed the way the masking tape was applied to the fingers as this was far easier and meant the tape stuck better and cover more of the skin.

This seemed to work pretty well and we didn’t have to remove much excess nail varnish from around the nails.

I was a little apprehensive at first about using the kit but only because I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to use and was a bit worried about messing it up.  Thankfully the product was so simple to use I didn’t get a chance to make a mess of it which was a good thing as that would have been embarrassing, phew!

The results were good and we look forward to experimenting with this again.  We now want to see if Vaseline works well around the nails to prevent the nail varnish sticking.  What do you think will it work?

This kit is for ages 8+ and makes a great gift to help encourage children to have fun with science.

Zoomer Zupps Tiny Pups: Diva

We are a family of animal lovers.  We love toy animals as well as live ones.  My children  would love to have a puppy but we simply don’t have the space or time to look after one.  When given the chance to review Zoomer Zupps Tiny Pups Diva of course we were game.  A puppy you don’t need to walk daily etc. is a far better alternative for us.  Wow these really are tiny pups we didn’t realise this pup would be quite so little although the name of the product does give it away, duh!  Anyway the day came when our pup Diva arrived and of course the girls and mini man were super excited so naturally I was extremely thankful that there were batteries included in the box.  Don’t you just hate it when batteries are not included and you need to do the mad scrabble around the house to find enough whist the little ones are asking over and over like a broken record “have you found them yet?”  This tiny pup is super cute and is brightly coloured too and she does make adorable little sounds.

What are Zoomer Zupps Tiny Pups?

Well they are pretty much what their name describes, tiny pups.

These tiny pups have little rollers under their feet so they can be pushed around.

The pups respond to touch via special sensors.  Pet their head and they bark and pant happily, pet and hold their head and the will bark “I Love You”.

Press their nose once or twice in a row and they will make cute sounds.  Press and hold the nose and they make a kissing sound.

The pups eyes light up as she interacts.

Each pup features a unique secret trick.  To find out what this is pet the head and then press the nose twice.

They play a fun Zupp game called the bark back game.  Pet the head and press the nose at the same time to play.  They bark and flash their eyes in a specific pattern.  Pet the head to repeat the pattern.  Pet the head quickly for a bark and pet and hold the nose for a howl.  Get three in a row and you win!

The legs are adjustable so you can make them stand, sit or lie down.

If you have a few pups you can watch them interact with each other.

There are six to collect and each pup comes with a collector card, instruction book and have batteries already installed.

These are for children aged 4 to 8 years old.

See Diva in Action:

What Did We Think?

The kids loved Diva, they thought she was super cute and loved the sweet little sounds that she made and also when she said “I Love You”.  Zoomer Zupps are easy to play with and Diva’s back legs move so you can position her to do tricks such as sit, lie down as well as stand.

The pups are small enough to make them easily transportable.  The more you play with them the happier they are and the kids found this adorable little pup irresistible.  Mr Squishy liked Diva so much he wanted her.  The girls were not impressed when he grabbed her and said “is miiiii” (is mine).

Zoomer Pups are available to buy from retailers such as Toys R Us, The Entertainer and Smyths and have a RRP of £14.99.

Have you heard of Zoomer Zupps Tiny Pups before?  Would you get one as a gift for a child you know?

Luxury Easter Eggs That Look Amazing

I’m not finished with Easter Eggs just yet.  Even after discovering and buying some that were on offer from Tesco for some of the children I know I have now changed the focus to other types of egg.  There are so many Easter eggs available and some are truly works or art.  I thought I would take a little look around the internet and share with you some of my favourites.  In some cases it might be best not to look at their prices lol as some do come with a hefty price tag.  So what did I discover on my travels?  These were some of my favourites:

Choccywoccydoodah

The Hare Family Eggs – Series of 3 Eggs

The Mr & Mrs and Sailor Boy eggs are comprised of 100kg of chocolate each.  Now that is serious chocolate heaven.  I have no idea of the price but it’s not going this be on offer that’s for sure.  The price is available on request.  Their dragon eggs last year were being sold for £25,000 if that gives you an idea of the sort of prices these guys can command for a monster sized egg.

Godiva

Giant Easter Atelier Egg

This luxury chocolate egg is handmade in Brussels by executive chef chocolatier’s Jean Apostolou and Ilse Wilmots and looks not only enormous but also delicious.  It weighs 13kg and features an array of beautiful white chocolate butterflies that are hand painted.  These are available from Harrods and Selfridges.  It costs a mere £1000 and I’m sure it is worth every penny.

Bettys

Imperial Easter Egg

The egg is named after the Imperial Suite at their Café Tea Rooms in Harrogate and is a real showpiece in craftsmanship.  It is decorated by hand with beautiful spring flowers.  Don’t let the small photo fool you this egg contains over 5.4 kilos of high quality milk or dark chocolate.  This egg is made-to-order and delivered personally, so you will need to contact them to place an order.  This pretty egg is available for £250.  There are some lovely smaller and cheaper options also available like this:

Trio of Spring Flower Eggs

These cute eggs are made with the finest Swiss chocolate and presented in a pastel box. Created to complement one another perfectly, the trio contains one milk chocolate egg, hand-stippled with dark chocolate; one dark chocolate and one eau de nil white chocolate egg with a silver lustre. Each is decorated with Royal iced spring flowers, carefully piped by hand.  260g of chocolate for £27.50 isn’t too bad when you are going for quality and great presentation.

Lick The Spoon

Paisley Easter Egg – Monterery

I love the colours and simple design of this egg that really make it stand out.   It would be almost a shame to break it up and eat although I’m guessing I would manage if I got one.  These celebrate 50 years since the famous ‘summer of love’ and the festivals held at the time.  Drawing on Paisley design influences their beautiful handmade egg is a thick chocolate shell covered in a gossamer thin pastel layer. The surface is hand decorated with an intricate gold Paisley design.  This egg comes presented in a blue keyhole box with a box of 12 Spring collection chocolates.  You will get 800g of chocolate for just £85!

Artisan du Chocolat

Sculpture Egg

Not your average Easter egg this is more like a piece of art and can be found in Harvey Nicols.  This is made from intense 70% Colombian dark chocolate and expertly finished in gold shimmer with an 18kt gold leaf adorning the central egg, what a stunning egg to grace any table or fireplace (don’t turn that on of course) until it is time to devour it.  There are mini eggs also included and this contains a total of 430g of chocolate which is priced at £44.95.

What did you think of the eggs I featured?

Have you seen any that look fab that I may have missed?
