Fairytale Shoes Fit For a Modern Day Princess

Many of my most recent fashion posts have featured boots.  Of course that is due to the awful weather we have been having and my need to stay dry and keep my toes feeling toasty but today I will break with recent tradition and feature some elegant shoes that are perfect for going out.  Now the weather has been a little kinder to us recently and some of us have been donning our going out clothes finished with some dazzling shoes and a gorgeous handbag.  Shoes can make or break an outfit and it is important to pair the correct shoes with our clothing choices.  My aim is always to combine style and sophistication when creating an outfit and it’s amazing how the right jeans for example can be spiced up with some ‘wow look at me shoes’ to make one look simply fabulous .  I always go for sleek, feminine styles personally and this is reflected in my outfit and shoe choices.

I have always loved the Wizard of Oz, why might you ask would I even consider mentioning this in a post about shoes, have I really lost the plot?  Well of course all the best people have (slight rewording from Alice in Wonderland there, my goodness lots of fairy tale story references today what’s happened).  Anyway back to the shoes.  You will all recall Dorothy’s ruby slippers from the book / movie and that was exactly what I thought of when I saw these stunning women’s shoes on the JD Williams site.

Don’t they look magical!!!

Now I must say when I first saw these I was overly excited, I mean who wouldn’t be, they look gorgeous and really glamorous.  These court shoes work with a large range of dresses, trousers and jeans to add a wonderful sparkle.  Not ones to lend to friends as you many never get them back these sure are a wardrobe stable and are guaranteed to never go out of fashion and can make any outfit look eye catching.  Totally drool worthy and the heels are the perfect height and a bargain at £30.

Now when you are on a site looking at shoes it’s not easy to stop at the one pair.  I’m not sure if it is because I saw Into the Woods recently with my girls but these precious pewter peep toe shoes caught my eye.  I’m sure many a fairytale Princess would own shoes like this and so can we for just £18 (I really hope you were sitting down when you read that).  The price is shockingly reasonable so I would suggest if you love these as much as me get over to the site fast because they are bound to sell out quickly.  They look simply fabulous whether worn in the day or evening and glow with feminine sophistication.  Again the heel is a good size so you are less likely to loose your shoe if you find Prince Charming isn’t so …. well charming and you need to make a sneaky quick exit.  These feel really soft to the touch which is perfect for me being a very tactile person.

Both styles of shoe can be worn with a range of clothing including blue skinny jeans, the gorgeous cold shoulder day dress pictured below, black slim leg jeans and also various types of evening wear such as the featured Carolina dress which is perfectly coloured to suit both pairs of shoes.  All the outfits featured below are from the JD Williams site and I do regret not having looked there sooner.  They have a great range of clothing and footwear and also a surprisingly good price range too so they have something to suit every pocket.

Have you discovered / shopped from JD Williams yet?

Mulberry Must Haves For February 2017

I am a sucker for a nice bag, aren’t we all!  A good bag for me doesn’t have to have a designer label as long as it is made well and is in a style and colour that I love.  Mulberry have a drool worthy range of bags to keep any fashionista happy myself included.  It’s still winter at the moment but Spring is coming up fast which is great as the season brings with it some fabulous colours.  For the moment though the colours that inspire me in my choice of colours for bags are black (we all love a black bag) dark blue, grey and some shades of brown.  You could of course inject some colour into your winter bag selection but for today I will focus on winter inspired bags.

Bag 1: Tyndale

The Tyndale bag is a gorgeous croc print bucket-shaped bag which is simply gorgeous.  I love the colour and the glossy exterior.  The style of the bag means it’s one of those easy to use bags that will fit in a fair amount and is easy to carry.  This is a great statement bag and is fabulously feminine and oozes sophisticated style.  This has a removable and adjustable strap.  I love the colour of this and if anyone is feeling generous you are more than welcome to buy me one, they are only £1,195.  I might wait for the sales to get this one.

Bag 2: Small Zipped Bayswater

This is a smaller version of Mulberrys most iconic bag and it’s hardly surprising the bag is a great size and style.  This deep embossed croc print bag has a zipped main compartment to ensure all your essentials remain in the bag.  This can be carried in various ways either via the two handles or should you prefer with the removable leather shoulder bag.  I love the black option but this can also be purchased in oxblood should you prefer.  I am sure this is on top of many ladies wishlist and costs the same as the the Tyndale.

Bag 3: Freya Satchel

A new addition to the Freya range this small, soft, goat print Taupe satchel is easy to wear and easily fits your main essentials.  The bag has a flap over closure and adjustable body strap to give the wearer ease of use and comfort and to ensure contents are safely hidden away.  This bag is smaller than many of the others featured here and costs a mere £595.

Bag 4: Freya

This beautifully designed, soft, goat print Hobo bag has an adjustable top handle.  This is a great classic style which can carry a fair amount of essentials and looks sleek and feminine.  This is also available in taupe and oxblood but my favourite must be the black it looks great and goes with many more outfits.  The Freya bag will guarantee the wearer numerous envious glances.  Middle of the range in price this weighs in at £895.

Bag 5: Cheyne

This compact clasp closing bag can be worn with either the chain or leather strap.  This clay coloured smooth bag has one main compartment and the focus of this bag is the simple yet pretty design of the clasp in the centre.  The gold chain gives a great colour contrast that is quite eye catching.  The leather is soft and the bag can be worn over the shoulder or across the body for extra security.

Bag 6: Mini Cheye

This super cute bag is a mini version of bag no5 and comes in the colour midnight (a very dark blue) but the chain has a silver toned finish.  This can be worn as a day or evening bag and can be matched to a range of outfits.  This fits just the essentials so if you like to carry around a lot of cosmetics this unfortunately isn’t the bag for you but you are welcome to gift it to me.  The smallest bag brings with it the lowest price of £495.

Which bag is your favourite?

Did you Cut your Spending this Christmas?

I have been reading all sorts of articles over the Christmas period from those about gift ideas for various members of the family, great party food ideas and more.  Some of these were found online and some I found in my inbox.  One that caught my interest covered spending over the Christmas season.

An online voucher company recently did a survey and discovered that 42% of those asked have tried to save money this Christmas.  It’s not surprising Christmas is an expensive time of year and it’s hard especially when you have little ones not to feel that you should get them the latest toy that they really want and have been on about for the last month and a half.  With our desire to make Christmas as special and magical a time as possible for children and loved ones some really do get a little spend happy it’s easy to get swept up in the Christmas buying frenzy that seems to happen and sometimes we might swipe the plastic a little too much it’s easily done as by not physically handling cash it can make you a little less aware of what you are spending resulting in quite a few cases in accounts being overdrawn as we venture into the cold January months.  I wrote a post in November titled ‘Save this Christmas and Enjoy a Happy New Year’ which I hope some of you managed to read and this gave some great tips on how you could save money for this Christmas as well as begin working on saving money for the next.

The company that carried out the survey that caught my attention was none other than My Voucher Codes which I frequently use and you can see the full survey ‘here‘.  The great thing about this particular company is that savings are not merely restricted to Christmas time although saving money at this expensive time of year is of course great.  These guys like many other voucher services allow you to save money on a whole array of products /  services from holidays, dining out, shopping for clothes, jewellery, beauty products, the list goes on.  I will be using vouchers to help save me money over the year and might even buy a few Christmas gifts on the way to reduce the load for next Christmas.  I’m quite excited to see they link to the offers on the buyagift page where I plan on making the most of discounts and go on a few of the experiences yet again.  The gift and occasion page is one to keep an eye on for those needing gifts over the year or want to get their Christmas shopping for the coming year finished early.  At the moment many of the stores they list are offering up to 50% off so if you want to grab some bargains why not go take a look.

Have fun shopping x

Do you use money saving voucher sites like these and which do you use?

Boohoo Launches New children’s Wear Line: Boohookids

Shopping appears to be the number one past time for many but I am finding that my work commitments are so high that I don’t get much time to go to stores and browse like I used too.  I’m not complaining I set my own work load so only have myself to blame when I have no time left for myself after writing my reviews, spending ages taking photos, cooking, tidying and cleaning, helping the mini ones with homework, going here and there to activities etc.  I am slowly beginning to see the way forward for myself is to buy more products online.  My goodness the time it saves is wonderful and they make it so easy to send items that don’t quite fit back that you can’t really go wrong.

I was aware that Boohoo did a range of adults clothing having been around and watching them grow over the years but but recently they launched Boohookids.  It’s great to have a stylish kids brand literally at my fingertips especially as I have 2 little fashionistas and my little man is beginning to get fussy about what he wears too.  Now as Christmas is coming up I realised my youngest didn’t have a party outfit, opsy, silly me so I took a look over on the Boohoo kids site and found the dress section as she is such a girly girl that nothing other than a dress would do.  I was amazed at how much choice there was, it was simply fantastic and I am going to admit we sat and looked through the dresses together for a considerable length of time which was quite nice and she was allowed to pick out a dress of her choice.  Now clearly this little Miss has fabulous taste as she looks stunning in the dress she chose (even if I do say so myself).  The dress itself has a nice soft and smooth texture and is the perfect colour for parties, don’t forget she IS going to dress this up with the obligatory bling that every female loves to wear, get mummy to paint her nails and grab a handbag to finish the outfit and keep her cosmetics in (told you she was girly).

Girls Bardot Open Shoulder Skater Dress

I did get the next size up from my daughters actual size as I was unsure of the sizing so here it is on my eldest who is 8.  Interestingly it seems to fit both girls.

My eldest really needs more casual clothing in her wardrobe.  Having been so busy i didn’t realise how little she had so this day wear dress (below) was perfect, she loved it the second it appeared on the computer screen and from the moment it arrived and was given a quick wash she was in it.  It was tricky prising her out of it to get her pj’s on.  Clearly I need some more exciting pj’s.  We loved the style of this dress as it’s not only comfy but also cute.

Girls Knitted Heart Print Swing Dress

Then for the shoes.  My youngest liked these:

Girls Shimmer Bow Ballet Shoes

They were perfect to add a lovely Christmassy sparkle to the outfit and seriously if my eldest could decide what she wanted I would have ordered a pair for her too.  She is apparently an Imelda Marcos wanna be as she liked a considerable number of the shoes on the site.  We will need to rethink our approach to that one lol as I don’t have that much space for shoes.

I was extremely pleased to hear that Boohoo has launched this great children’s range and what was quite shocking for me was the reasonable price of items.  Honestly, I thought that Boohoo would be far more expensive so I was extremely impressed.  I also loved the next day delivery option which was so handy.  I ordered on the Wednesday evening and by Thursday evening the parcel was in my hands.  Great for last minute parties and if you discover like I did that certain areas of the wardrobe were lacking items you can get it rectified with minimal effort and at a fabulously fast speed too.  I did look on the site for items for Mr Squishy but it appeared they didn’t have anything for his age but the good thing is that now I know how great a service and how good a quality the clothing is I won’t hesitate to shop from there for my little man and maybe even my big man if he allows it (he thankfully has a mind of his own and a mediocre dress sense).

Have you shopped from Boohoo or Boohookids yet?

We were sent these items to show everybody how fabulous they look and all opinions as always are our own.

Girls Pink Parka from Sainsbury’s Tu

It’s really cold outside and after looking through my daughters wardrobes I was horrified to see that they would need new winter coats very soon as their existing coats were getting a little short and worse for wear.  Not really a big deal I know but have you ever tried to part a fashionista with an item of clothing that she loves wearing?  Well if you haven’t just to give you a vague idea ‘All hell breaks loose!’.

With this daunting task ahead of me I decided to scour the internet for suitable coats that not only looked warm but looked like they would be accepted by little devils / angels who are not not quite in Prada just yet (thankfully).

I have in the past mentioned that you can find some great pieces from supermarkets and the next item I wanted to tell you all about is a lovely coat from Sainsbury’s Tu clothing range.

coat1The inside of the coat and hood is lined with faux fur which is amazingly soft.  The coat is shower resistant and lightly padded.  There is a drawstring around the waste and the pocket zips and popper buttons are gold coloured, the main zip at the front is pink.  The coat is very pretty and lovely and cosy.  The sizing, well my daughter is now 8 and I got the next size up so one that would fit a 9 to 10 year old.  There is as expected plenty of room for the extra jumpers that she will wear over the winter.  This coat is great for Autumn but you will need to layer up when it gets colder over winter.  There is plenty of room to do this and of course layering is suggested for the winter to build up pockets of warm air and keep yourself nice and toasty.

What do you think, is this a great looking coat?  My daughter thought so, she loves it!

Dobell Tuxedos and Suits for Children and Adults

Show someone a picture of a child in a tuxedo or suit and you will have parents, grandparents, friends and family gushing.  What is it about children dressed in this form of attire that makes them look super cute?  Is it the fact that they look like a miniature adults or is it that well frankly we as adults think they look adorable in just about anything.  Most ladies will agree seeing a man in a tuxedo or suit is also pretty good and these from Dobell the UK’s no1 formal wear store are just the ticket.

Gents brace yourselves I am about to show you some great looking stylish tuxedos and suits that your Mrs or Mrs to be will love seeing you in (who knows wearing one of these and looking pretty damn good you could help you meet the woman or man of your dreams).  Before I get onto the photos which by now I bet you are all excited to see I also want to mention that there are a range of other products also available on the site including novelty suits, waistcoats, bow ties, ties, cravats, shirts and dress shirts, trousers, smart trousers, shoes and would you believe it more items also including a range of accessories.  Their range is pretty extensive and is well priced plus you have the reassurance that it has a 5 star trust pilot rating having been rated excellent by over 14,000 customers and would you believe it scored more than Marks & Spencer who we know are pretty good themselves.  Suit prices start from £29.99, Tuxedos from £49.99, Morning Suits from £49.99, Shirts from £4.99 and Waistcoats from £4.99.  This company has specialist style experts that carefully select products for their quality and value.  Orders over £30 automatically qualify for free delivery (within 3 working days) and Dobell also offer a no quibble quality guarantee so if by some reason you are not 100% satisfied then you have 28 days from the date of dispatch to return your order and they will send out a replacement.

This 1 Button, Black Shawl Lapel 2 Piece Tuxedo is their best seller and looks pretty smart if you ask me.

Not bad for just £99!

Their Skopes Milano Contemporary Black Peak Lapel 2 Piece Tuxedo £139.99 (left) and the Dobell Royal Blue Suit £124.99 (right) look great on the dummy and are expertly tailored and I’d bet they look amazing on!  You are guaranteed to be the noticed in these.

Now we know I love to tell you all about any bargains I come across and this happens to be a pretty big one!  For any one in the market for a Selected Homme Black Slim Fit Blazer with Notch Lapel you can save a massive 82%.  I know it’s crazy but rest assured I did read it correctly so you had better hurry on over and snap it up quick.  This was £109.99 and is now £19.99!!!!

Don’t ask why it’s reduced just hurry and buy it before they come to their senses!!!!!

And not forgetting the mini ones.  There are some great suits for little boys.  We ordered the Boys 1 Button, Black Notch Lapel 2 Piece Tuxedo by Alexander Dobell which arrived very fast, you can’t fault the service!  This particular tuxedo according to their website has been featured on tv.  The fitted single breasted jacket comes along with trousers that are fully lined, precision cut and finished with a quarter inch satin stripe detail.  My youngest daughter is standing in for Mr Squishy but because he is still a tiny little chap (2 years old) and the size we ordered was a bit big for him as expected.  The smallest size available is for age 3 on the website but it seems to come up larger so I would say it would be suitable for a child of age 4-6 depending on how tall etc. the child itself is.  How great does she look in that tuxedo it’s like it was made for her!

Do you need a new suit or tuxedo or do you have a male in your life that is in need of either?  Then Dobell is the perfect solution.

The Perfect Pair of Boots for Autumn / Winter 2016

As many of you know I am very much into my boots.  Now that the season is changing yet again I think we will all agree that we have stepped into boot season (pun intended).  Boots can vary from place to place in quality and of course this will influence their appearance, feel and durability.

Have you ever found that one pair of boots and known you simply had to have them; that perfect pair of boots that goes with a range of outfits (always a bonus), feels so comfortable that you feel like you are walking on air, look beautifully stylish and also give you great support when you walk?  I can safely say that before last week I myself hadn’t.  A fortunate turn of events led me to discover Morlands Glastonbury, a company that specialise in creating gorgeous, great quality sheepskin products from boots, to slippers, gloves, scarves and even a super cute fluffy teddy!

I ordered some Sheepskin boots and they were delivered to me last week.  The boots they arrived exceptionally fast which is always a great sign.  On opening the box I was impressed at how much care had gone into packaging the boots to ensure they arrived in great condition.  They were perfectly wrapped and had been packed in a way that they wouldn’t lose their shape.  As I lifted the paper to look at the boots I was immediately overjoyed at the thought that I may had just found the perfect boots for this Autumn season.  The second my hand touched the first boot to lift it out I was aware of the superior quality of this product.  Incredibly soft to the touch and that was just the outer part.  Inside the boots you are greeted again with further softness.  Until you try on these boots for yourself you couldn’t imagine how they might feel but to give you an idea it’s as if your feet are given a warm hug by a cloud, it is simply incredible.  Once on there is no way you are taking these babies off me, seriously it’s like trying to share the food from my plate, never advisable purely for your own safety.  I’d feel perfectly comfortable strutting my stuff on the catwalk wearing these beauties as they are are superb example of stylish boots.

Tara Boot from Morlands Glastonbury

dsc02209 dsc02182 dsc02179 dsc02173 dsc02168

The best thing is these boots are versatile and can be paired with various outfits which just adds to my excitement.  These simply go with almost anything except more formal wear but otherwise you are probably covered with these plus they are also available in black!!!!

Check out my video here and get a closer look:

The rubber sole provide a great grip, perfect for walks in the Autumn on slippery damp leaves and also great for the winter months that bring with them ice and snow.  The soles are flexible so they are easy to walk in and there is a slight heel adding to the femininity of the boot.  The boot has been lined with natural sheepskin giving it a super soft feel and adding a light padding to the inside of the boot.

These would look great with jeans, leggings, jegging and of course my favourite type of clothing other than footwear; dresses!

Couldn’t you see yourself walking down the street looking fabulously chic in a pair of the Tara boots in either black or brown and any of the following dresses from Boohoo!

boohoo6All I need now is the dresses!!!

What do you think of my fabulous new boots?

For the Love of Dresses

My little girls have taken after me.  Just like mummy they love to wear dresses so when I went to do a shop in the West End and saw these gorgeous Yumi Girl dresses in House of Fraser I knew they would love them.  At first I did consider getting them the same dress in the same colour until I discovered that it also came in white too, how exciting.  Knowing the girls would be over the moon to have them I quickly found their sizes and purchased them without a  second thought.  By the way they were on sale, which was great as I had more shopping to do.

As predicted the girls loved their dresses and here they are wearing them.

They were very excited about the prospect of a photo shoot for the blog and had great fun posing for the camera.

Here is a closer look at the pattern:

These dresses are perfect for day wear, parties and other occasions.

How you shopped from House of Fraser recently?

Step into Autumn in Style

With the incessant cooler weather combined with scattered and heavy showers I am beginning to prepare for Autumn.  I love to look at shoes and boots online, who doesn’t and a site that I have visited before because I know I am guaranteed good quality products is Brantano.  These guys have some pretty drool worthy boots on their sites that are going to get us all super excited about the arrival of Autumn.

There are so many boots to choose from that it really made my job creating a wishlist of ladies ankle boots extremely hard.  I do love boots and it’s always good to have a few colours rather than play it safe with just black.  The bonus is that these guys make boots that are of a good quality and hard wearing.

I like sleek, sophisticated feminine styles and there was a really good range of boots that fit my criteria to choose from.  I love my shoes alongside my handbags, dresses, jewellery etc. just like any other woman and looking at the various styles of boots and imagining where I could wear them is just as fun as when they arrive!!!!

The school run, walking to work or a casual get together with friends would be suited to the practical styles pictured below giving a casual yet classy look.  These work well with jeans, leggings, jeggings and dresses and skirts (dresses and skirts would be around knee length).  All of these would also look great for a night out with friends.

Also perfect for evening wear are these lovely and fantastically feminine boots.  The top right pair of boots is also available in blue or red.

Again these boots can be styled with jeans, jeggings, leggings and dresses but with a less casual and more glam look.

What do you think about my boot selection?  Do you like the sleek feminine look too or prefer something a little chunkier?  There are many more styles to be found over on the site so why not pop over and take a look for yourself.
