Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise (includes a FAB competition)

A little while back we introduced you all to Lalaloopsy.  Lalaloopsy have a range of fun, brightly coloured toys for little ones and one of them that you may have seen advertised on children’s tv recently is Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise.  Now of course the second my girls saw this they wanted to have one, who wouldn’t it’s a doll that poops!!!!!!  I’m really excited about this particular toy because it has arrived at around the time that the mini man is more conscious about trying to go to the toilet and this has coincided with him actually using the toilet.  I think that seeing the doll and his sisters go to the toilet and not wearing nappies has really spurred him to wanting to be a big boy and using the toilet.  My little man has started stripping and running bare bottomed to the toilet although he can’t quite get on it without help just yet.  It’s hilarious, he has totally perfected the stripping part it takes him seconds and before you know it you have a toddler running starkers around the house, it’s pretty hilarious I must say!  Not so much when we have an accident on the floor though but we will work through that.  Anyway back to Lalaloopsy.  As you can see this doll is cute with her large dark button eyes and my girls love her.Lala1

In the box you get the doll, 3 different coloured foods, a bowl, a spoon and a potty.  And of course importantly it’s super easy to use.

Using the spoon to portion out some food.

There are various shapes and the kids loved discovering new ones in the potty.

Both my girls and Mr Squishy love playing with this and the great thing is that no matter how many times they have left the lid open the food which is like kinetic sand does not seem to dry out, good to know as we all know what children are like.  The food pot lids and the potty are all nicely decorated which I liked and this is one of those super toys that you don’t need to get batteries for making it a great gift as that’s one less expense and thing to remember, bonus!  A lot of thought that has gone into this toys presentation which is great.  When we were first playing with this I did notice when the doll wasn’t used properly the poop didn’t form a shape so be sure to follow our instructions above or via our YouTube video:

How much fun is that!

Now like all parents, grandparents, loving aunts and uncles we want to get our hands on these great toys but also where possible want to save ourselves a few pounds in the process.  With that in mind I did a quick price comparison and found the doll being sold by numerous shops for over £30 except for one!!!!  I am pleased to tell you I have found probably the bargain of the month for those needing to by something like this as a gift.  I found Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise was being sold for just £14.99 in Argos stores so if you want one hurry and get ordering online as once the deal sites get wind of it this they will sell out!!!!  You heard it here first lol.

I am going to add some more good news to that.  We have a super duper competition for one of my lovely readers to win a Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise Doll!!!!!

Isn’t that fabulous!

Introducing Dubble Trubble Plus a Giveaway

Bath time is a pretty fun time for the little ones at our house.  They love to splash about and get lost in their own little imaginative world.  The girls love to bathe on their own so they can stretch out and pretend to be mermaids where as Mr Squishy loves to fill up jugs and toys with water and pour it back into the bath.  Of course bath time is not just about playing it is also about washing the little ones so they smell great after running around at school or at home and building up a sweat.  No one likes a smelly child now do they.  My little ones love fragrant fruity products to use when washing their body and hair and so were extremely excited to be sent some Dubble Trubble products.  These award winning organic (over 70% organic ingredients) shampoos and body washes come in a range of aromas including Cherry Bomb, Cool Cucumber, Strawberry, Watermelon and Bananaberry.  You will also find a Cool Cucumber Detangling Conditioner Spray.

Hair4

The products do NOT contain SLES, SLS or parabens.  SLES and SLS can cause skin irritations and SLES are often contaminated by a carcinogen (1,4 Dioxane – cancer causing) which is a by-product of manufacturing.  The products are NOT tested on animals which means we can buy the products in good conscience.

Dubble Trubble products have been created by celebrity hair colourist and Prince’s Trust Ambassador, Daniel Galvin Jr.  His collection of five pH balanced Hair & Body washes and Detangling Mist all contain organic botanical extracts to ensure that our children’s hair is in safe hands.

These are available in Tesco and most Asda stores, as well as online in Ocado and Daniel Galvin Jr’s stores.

As we all know children love to unbox items no matter what they are it’s the excitement of seeing what’s inside so I thought it might be fun to do an unboxing video.

So now you’ve seen the unboxing what did the children think???

It was hardly surprising that the children had whipped off their clothes in minutes and were excited about getting into the bath after filming.

Hair3

The children loved the range of aromas and wanted to try them all so we have been having extra baths to get through each.  Their favourites were the cherry bomb and strawberry although they did like them all.  The combination of the shampoo and the detangling spray made the children’s hair easier and faster to brush through which was good as we can spend ages sometimes.  I liked the range and aromas and would like to see a few more of the aromas of the shampoo and body washes available in the detangling spray range.

Hair5

These are lovely products and ones we are sure to use again.  If you would like an opportunity to give them a go for yourself why not enter our competition to win some Dubble Trubble goodies.  One lucky reader will be sent the selection of hair and body washes and also the detangling spray.

Entry is super easy just enter via the rafflecopter form.

Age 2 Verbal Development Update

I recently wrote a post about my little man and his verbal development.  I thought that it might be fun to follow this up with some more information for those with a 2 year old themselves and include a little update with new words that have been added to my little man’s vocabulary since the last post.

As I previously mentioned children develop at different speeds and we should not compare them to others for this reason although I understand it is hard and also frustrating when you hear others children are saying things which sound far more progressed than your own child.

My little man seems to be progressing well but then he does have two older sisters that he loves to try and emulate.

tumble2

Children with siblings do tend to progress at a much faster rate and I should know having had two other children prior to Mr Squishy.  At this age his mind is like a sponge and it is shocking how quickly he learns new words.  As one might expect for the age group he has difficulties with certain sounds including ch, sh, th and also r but we can still generally understand him and with his adorable little voice and facial expressions it is super cute listening and communicating with him.

Squishy is now forming slightly longer sentences where he can and is becoming just as chatty as his sisters.  I try to encourage conversation and read to my little man using books with simple words and as many pictures as possible.  When children can visualise a word for example ‘cat’ they are more likely to find it interesting and learn the word and what it relates to.  Now is the time to learn numbers, colours and shapes.  Mr Squishy has been trying to learn his numbers with me.  I use songs to help me teach him as it is much more fun and we use our fingers and props where available.  My little man knows some of his numbers now although his pronunciation is hilarious.

DSC03213

Mr Squishy’s latest words include:

Water: was Buuubba last time I posted but his has now developed and has become wudder (almost there little man keep at it).

Two: Poo. I know it cracks me up each time I hear it.

Three: wee/ bee.

Pillow: tillow.

This way: he can say this very well.

Soup: Poop.

Oh mummy I love you: Oh mummy I laaaallluuuu.

Night night mummy.

Daddy watch me: Daddy whot me.

Phone: bone

Daddy phone ringing:  Daddy bone ring ring

As you can see his speech is coming along.  Mr Squishy is saying far more words correctly and is learning new ones daily.  By the time this little chap is 3 he will know 200+ words and will want to go to big school with his sisters.

Have your little ones learnt a new word which they can’t quite pronounce or did they come out with some hilarious pronunciations when they were little?

Did you Cut your Spending this Christmas?

I have been reading all sorts of articles over the Christmas period from those about gift ideas for various members of the family, great party food ideas and more.  Some of these were found online and some I found in my inbox.  One that caught my interest covered spending over the Christmas season.

hi2

An online voucher company recently did a survey and discovered that 42% of those asked have tried to save money this Christmas.  It’s not surprising Christmas is an expensive time of year and it’s hard especially when you have little ones not to feel that you should get them the latest toy that they really want and have been on about for the last month and a half.  With our desire to make Christmas as special and magical a time as possible for children and loved ones some really do get a little spend happy it’s easy to get swept up in the Christmas buying frenzy that seems to happen and sometimes we might swipe the plastic a little too much it’s easily done as by not physically handling cash it can make you a little less aware of what you are spending resulting in quite a few cases in accounts being overdrawn as we venture into the cold January months.  I wrote a post in November titled ‘Save this Christmas and Enjoy a Happy New Year’ which I hope some of you managed to read and this gave some great tips on how you could save money for this Christmas as well as begin working on saving money for the next.

The company that carried out the survey that caught my attention was none other than My Voucher Codes which I frequently use and you can see the full survey ‘here‘.  The great thing about this particular company is that savings are not merely restricted to Christmas time although saving money at this expensive time of year is of course great.  These guys like many other voucher services allow you to save money on a whole array of products /  services from holidays, dining out, shopping for clothes, jewellery, beauty products, the list goes on.  I will be using vouchers to help save me money over the year and might even buy a few Christmas gifts on the way to reduce the load for next Christmas.  I’m quite excited to see they link to the offers on the buyagift page where I plan on making the most of discounts and go on a few of the experiences yet again.  The gift and occasion page is one to keep an eye on for those needing gifts over the year or want to get their Christmas shopping for the coming year finished early.  At the moment many of the stores they list are offering up to 50% off so if you want to grab some bargains why not go take a look.

Have fun shopping x

Do you use money saving voucher sites like these and which do you use?

A Cure for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, Erin’s Story

Many of us get distracted by facebook when we are supposed to be doing something else in many instances working.  That happened to me recently when i noticed one of my facebook friends had liked the MSN UK page.  I couldn’t see the headline at the time but was for some reason drawn to it and had to click on the link to see what they had liked.  The story that appeared before me literally had me in tears.

We have endless news that quite frankly isn’t of much importance so when you get a good piece of news like this it is not only interesting to read but also something we want to share to help give hope to others.  The story in the headline was about a young girl Erin Cross (age 6), of Chester, in Cheshire who was suffering with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.  After a public appeal £100,000 was raised to send her to Seattle to try a new treatment where T Cells (white blood cells that battle infections) from the child’s blood are reprogrammed to destroy cancer cells then reinfused back into the child’s blood.  93% of the children with relapsed Leukaemia that had undergone this treatment had complete remission.  So far this treatment has shown positive results for Erin too and today she was to go in to Manchester Children’s Hospital to have a bone marrow transplant which should prevent the Leukemia returning.  It’s not only an encouraging and positive story but it goes to show that progress is being made in regards to the fight against cancer which is fabulous news as let’s face it the odds are that many of us will either get some form of cancer or have a close relative that does.  Here is the light at the end of the tunnel, hopefully this treatment can be adapted to help fight other cancers too.

Want to find out more about this brave little girls fight with cancer?  Why not take a look at the video here:

I hope that all went well with today’s treatment and I am sure you will all join me in wishing Erin a speedy recovery from the surgery.  Let’s hope that this is the start of a flood of positive stories of people fighting cancer and winning.  We need more positive news in the media instead of hyped up headlines that don’t actually have much of a story behind them and are just to gain views and are total time wasters.

Please do share this story with friends and family and let’s end 2016 on a positive hopeful note x

hi1

The Impulse Why Not Cosmetic Bag Gift Set is a bargain at £2.99 considering it is £4.00 in Asda and Wilko.  It includes a pretty pink cosmetics bag and two sprays.

Technic Kissed Lips Set contains 3 lip crayons and 3 lip glosses so at £2.99 it is a fabulous bargain seeing as individual products normally sell for a minimum of £1 each.  The colours look great and will make for a useful gift that will be used and loved.  The lowest price I could find this elsewhere was at Fragrance Direct who have it for £3.99. This gift would also be great for mums, I know I’d love one of these.

The Eden Perfect Pamper Time gift set is idea for busy mums who are generally run off their feet.  Kids if you are reading this why not get dad or another adult to make a cup of tea for mum when she is wearing these and give her a little foot massage, she will really love that and you can score a few brownie points too.  Here it is just £5.99 although Fragrance Direct have it priced as £8.99.  I’d be getting the HiHouse website open if you still need gifts right about now.

Vintage Stocking Fillers (nail varnish) There are two available and are reasonably priced at £1.49 each.  Just to note there are currently just two colours available and there is no option to pick which you would prefer although they are both lovely colours.

Dove Pampering Moments Trio & Washbag is just £2.99 fortunately I was sitting when I saw the price and I double and triple checked it not having believed my eyes.  Even more shocking is that the lowest price I could find it elsewhere was at Wilko for £8.00.  This contains a good sized washbag, a body lotion, bodywash and deodorant.

Starlytes Candle Jar Pomegranate and Pear 18oz smells great and is a great gift as everyone loves candles.  The price is fabulous as it’s only £3.99 .  It seems to be sold out elsewhere including on Amazon where it was being sold for a whooping £14.99.

Chit Chat – Totally Crackers are a great idea for beauty fans.  Each cracker contains a beauty treat and I could quite easily substitute the old style crackers for these.  It’s a shame they don’t have them for men too.  These two crackers come at the shockingly low price of £0.99p so just short of 50p each cracker.  At that price you really can’t go wrong.  I found them over on the Prettylittlething website on offer for £3.00.  Clearly HiHouse is a site that many can’t compete with pricewise.

For Dads, Grandads and Teens

hi2

The Lynx Black Duo Gift Set is a really useful gift for any man in your life.   The duo consists of full sized products; Black Body Spray 150ml and Black Shower Gel 250ml.  These have a subtle fragrance and notes of bergamot, rosemary and cedarwood.  Priced at £3.19 it’s fairly priced and not to expensive.  I did find this at Wilko for £2.50 as they have it on offer at the moment, the normal price was £3.25.
Dove Men +Care Daily Care Duo Gift pack contains a deodorant and shower gel ad costs £3.99.  I did find this for less at Superdrug (on offer for £2.75 normally £4.50).  Again a useful present and a great way for the men in your life to stock up on the essentials to see them through the year.
The Dove Men +Care Daily Care Wash Bag Gift Set makes a lovely inexpensive gift.  It contains the essentials that every male will find useful including face wash, post shave balm and deodorant. It costs just £5.99 and is not too expensive a gift either.  ASOS do these for £8.00.

For Little Girls

hi3

Minions Fluffy 5 Day Set comes with 5 mini shower gels.  These cute little bottles come coloured pink and purple with the cutest little labels.  It’s a lovely little stocking filler and not expensive either at £2.99.  The only place I could find this was ebay priced at £10.99, doubt anyone would be using ebay to buy this then.  These can be individually wrapped if you prefer to keep the fun lasting longer.

The Troll lip balm and topper set will prove to be very popular with little sisters and at £2.99 for 4 lip balms and a cute Princess Poppy topper you can’t go wrong.  I know both my girls would love this as would all their friends.

Minions Fluffy Unicorn Lip Gloss Selection.  Now for starters who can resist unicorns they are sooooo cute!!!!!!  Secondly one can never have too many lip balms as they are a beauty essential and you should always be prepared with one in every handbag and coat pocket.  This is great to stop little ones stealing mummies lip gloss as mummies one looks so boring in comparison plus it doesn’t come with adorable little charms like these do either!  (£2.99 for 4 lip balms).  Available from Gordons Direct for £6.99.  These too can be wrapped individually if you prefer and depending on whether you want to give a pack per child or not.

For Little Boys

hi4

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 3D 250ml fruit scented bubble bath is not only a useful gift but also a fun one as it can also double up as a toy.  It’s £4.99 and makes a great stocking filler for any turtle fan.  It is much higher elsewhere and the lowest price I found it was at Very for £9.99.

Paw Patrol 3D Bubblebath 150ml is perfect for my little man and I can’t wait to see his face when he opens his gift and see’s Marshall looking back at him.  It’s just the thing for any Paw Patrol fan and costs £4.99.  Not only does it contain bubblebath but it can also be used as a toy after so it’s one of those two in one items that come in very useful.

There are also some great scented candles that are perfect to add a little fragrance to the home including this cherry scented tealights (£0.99p).  So why not pop some of these into your basket too and have your home smelling great when your guests come over.

hi5

A First Bike

Mr Squishy is an active little boy.  This little man gets his energy levels from me so is generally super charged most of the time.  It comes in handy as he can keep up with me although isn’t quite so great when I’m having an off day.  This little Duracell bunny loves to run around, play on his scooter and play on his tricycle whenever he gets the chance.  He has mastered the art of riding his sisters pretty pink scooters hilarious if you compare their size to his and he’s recently learnt to use the pedals on his bike.  At the moment he of course has a teeny weeny little bike (tricycle) to allow for his size but at some stage I shall be looking to upgrade as he grows.  I don’t remember my first bike it was so long ago although I do remember riding a neighbours dog (a golden retriever) once in a while which was pretty fun.  Photos from when I was young are limited so I don’t think I have any of me and my first bike which is a shame and something I hope not to be the case with my little ones.

bike3

My little man loves riding his bike outside and normally he plays with it in the garden but I hope to get out to the park where he can ride it over a larger more open area as I know he will love that.  You can see the concentration on his face when he pedals around and it’s simply adorable.  My only concern is getting him to leave the park as he loves being out and not so much the leaving and coming back home.

I can imagine my little man on a bmx bike when he gets that little bit bigger.  Do you remember those?  I still see these sort of bikes around which were very popular in the 1990’s.  This sort of bike would be great for my little guy being the little speedster and daredevil that he is.

bike1

Having visited Halfords for children’s bikes and also to get my car lights changed when they’ve blown (yes they do that too for a small fee) I thought I would take a look and see what options were available for Mr Squishy.  The bikes start from age 3 and up so he might have to wait a little longer which is fine with me as his little tricycle is just right for the moment.  Halfords have a good range of bikes on their site for boys and girls.  I though these would probably appeal to my little man the most:

bike7

He loves bright colours and these bikes look great and what impressed me even more was this that I read on a banner over on their site.

bike8

Always reassuring when other mums are in total agreement about products for children isn’t it!

From the bikes selected above I think the one that would appeal to Mr Squishy the most at the moment would be the Paw Patrol bike.  He loves watching Paw Patrol on tv and to have a bike with the characters would really put a smile on his face.  Any of these would make a great first bike for children and give them hours of fun outside.  I don’t think children get half as much outside play as I know I did when i was younger so this is perfect to help encourage that.

Many of the bikes are on offer at the moment so if you need a children’s bike be sure to take a look as you could bag yourself some great savings.

Have you guys ever bought or would you buy a bike from Halfords?

This is a collaborative post.

Glowing Musical Thomas The Tank Engine Review and Giveaway

Mr Squishy loves Thomas the Tank Engine and has been enjoying watching Thomas go on his various adventures on the tv.  Having seen this I did attempt to take him on the tube once thinking he would love it but boy was I wrong.  He started screaming hysterically but then he is still quite young and had never been on public transport except when he was still in my tummy.  For now we will have to make do with him playing with toy trains for a little while longer as I am not sure he is quite so ready to try again just yet and neither am I.  Instead he is happy watching trains whizz by on the tracks from a safe distance and also watching them on tv and of course his favourite of all, playing with them.  Until recently Mr Squishy only had one Thomas toy and a book that plays the theme tune but recently this lucky little chap was sent a Glowing Musical Thomas toy from Golden Bear Toys to review.

Once my little man saw what was in the box when the package arrived he was extremely excited and grabbed it out himself.  He is getting to know the routine now so he ran off into the room we often do the children’s reviews, sat down and started saying deeeeee (his version of cheese) with the most enormous grin on his face.  Now from past experience I know the best way to show others how much a child really likes / loves a toy is to video them with the item.  Anyone can pose for photos with a product and smile saying the kids like it and move on, well I simply can’t do that as I like to be thorough as you may have realised by now so naturally we did a video just to show how much this toy is loved.

Watch Mr Squishy in action:

As you can see this is a great toy for any Thomas fan.  The funnel at the top (black) plays various phrases when pressed and the dome (blue) plays the Thomas the Tank Engine theme tune.  The cheeks light up and change colour and the toy itself is very cuddly and soft.  The music can be turned off so that this toy can be taken to bed without the fear of it waking the little one at night.  There is also a James and Percy option too which is handy to know as many little ones would love to have the whole set.  This is a great toy for encouraging imaginative play in little ones and my little man loves singing along to the song each time he presses the button.

thomas1

Doesn’t this look like a great toy for all little ones that love Thomas?  It makes a great gift for a toddler at any time of year.  Mr Squishy is loving it and would love one of you guys to win one for your own little Squishy so we are holding a competition for one lucky reader to win one.

As a parent I look to my surroundings in many instances to help reinforce what my children learn at school and with their tutors.  There are various ways that this can be done over the Christmas holidays and all you need to do is be a little creative.  My girls are ages 6.5 and 8 so of course this would be targeted for their requirements.  Have younger children?  No problem simply adapt the questions to suit their capability.   Don’t forget by not exercising their brain children fall into bad habits over holidays in general.  It doesn’t have to be anything to complicated, examples include:

Counting the number of gifts under the tree.  If Santa brings 15 more on Christmas Eve how many will there be?  If a reindeer eats 3 of the gifts how any will there be?

There are 24 chocolates on the tree, if mummy eats 1 and daddy eats 3 how many will be left? (naturally we will be finding this one hilarious as daddy is likely to eat loads not just 3)

If there are 4 candy canes on the tree and mummy wanted to have 37 how many more would she need?

Reading the Christmas jokes is always fun for children especially when they are old enough to understand them.

Get the little ones to read the Christmas cards they receive from friends.  That’s always fun.

Having the children write out their cards for their friends is always good as they can practice their writing skills.  They can also include personal messages in them.

How about a quick science lesson for those with live trees?  Take a few of the pine needles which are the trees leaves and demonstrate how these will float on water due to the surface tension of the water.  Surface tension = the water acts like stretchy elastic skin.  The molecules which make up the water are tiny and hold on tight to each other which = surface tension.  This prevents the leaves / needles sinking.

So you see Christmas time can be a great way for little ones to learn new and interesting things and have fun with their parents at the same time.

Are you planning on doing anything fun yet educational this Christmas?
